22 Thankful Days - #20

I am thankful for first responders.

 

 

Is there anyone braver than first responders? At the time of highest fear and most uncertainty, and at the time everyone else is running away from danger, first responders are running toward it.
And they’re running toward it for a loved one not for themselves. First responders are running at top speed toward the danger for total strangers. Many times, they have no idea of exactly what they’re heading into, but in they go. I don’t think any words can describe the incredible courage and dedication it takes to be a first responder, and it’s a shame that it takes an emergency situation like 9/11 or even Sandy to remind us just how special these people are. But I know I speak for countless people around the world when I say that first responders are on my mind this Thanksgiving as one of the things I am most thankful for. Thank you first responders! You are the heroes of our community and we couldn't live without you.
